Tell us more about your current role at CPR.
I currently lead the Human Resources team. Our team is relatively small so each of us manages multiple portfolios. Besides the usual HR operations, my role also encompasses the design of compensation and benefits, identifying learning and development needs, as well as driving process improvements to achieve operations efficiency. In short, we manage all facets of people-related matters within CPR to sustain a harmonious and effective working environment.
How would you help a new employee to understand the culture and values of CPR?
Our core values revolve around being patient-centric, pursuing innovation by constantly improving ourselves and maintaining high standards in everything we do. I like to share success stories of how our employees have managed to overcome the odds for a particularly difficult project to produce remarkable results. This way, newcomers get to understand the values, practices and beliefs of CPR employees.
Have you faced any challenges within HR? How did you overcome them?
Problem-solving is a skillset that many HR practitioners need as we frequently have to deal with ambiguous or complex situations which require careful consideration. We thus need to be proactive in researching and proposing solutions. This requires us to keep abreast of current HR practices and industry trends within Singapore and in the wider community. Continuous learning, such as through webinars and courses, is essential. Besides that, I find that it is important to stay informed and connected with fellow HR professionals to share best practices and exchange views.
What do you like most about CPR?
CPR has a very enjoyable and nurturing working environment. The people are nice and helpful and there is really a sense of belonging here. Most importantly, we have a management team that is willing to listen to employees’ needs.
